Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the filter housing drain plug. Drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug. Note: Removing the drain plug from the bottom of the filter housing may not drain all of the oil from the filter.
Remove the filter housing and the filter element. Discard the used filter element.
Wash the filter housing in clean nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seal in the filter base. If the seal is damaged, replace the seal with a new seal.
Install the new filter element in the housing. Install the housing.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged. Check for any leaks and make the necessary repairs.
Observe the oil level in the transmission tank when the oil is warm and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. If necessary, add oil.
Maintain the oil level to the "FULL WARM" mark in the sight gauge.
