FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. Check the condition of all parts in the implement steering and pilot systems oil pump. If worn or damaged, replace with new parts. Lubricate parts at assembly with hydraulic oil. 1. Install O-ring (55) and backup ring (54) in outlet plate (53). 2. Install the O-ring seals and seal retainers (52) in the opposite side of the outlet plate (53). 3. Install flexplate (51) with the brass face toward the rotor (brass face away from seals). Vanes (50) must be installed correctly for proper operation of the pump.4. Install inserts (49) and vanes (50) in rotor (48). Install the vanes with the leading edge (sharp edge) at the outside diameter and toward the direction of rotation. 5. Install ring (47) and rotor assembly (48) as shown. The arrow on the ring must be facing the same direction as the rotation of the rotor. 6. Install flexplate (46) with the brass side toward the rotor. 7. Install the O-ring seals and seal retainers (45) on the inlet plate (43). 8. Install inlet plate (43) as shown.
