Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Start the engine. Extend the ejector cylinder so that the ejector blade is clear of the latch assembly. Stop the engine. Install the steering frame lock. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".
The following procedure is for the removal of the left side latch assembly. Use the same procedure to remove the right side latch assembly.

Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling around latch assembly (1) and to a suitable hoist. Remove four bolts (4), the washers , shims (2) and plate (5). Carefully lift the latch assembly from ejector body (3). The weight of the latch assembly is 16 kg (35 lb). Note: Measure shims (2) that were removed for installation purposes.
