Testing the Speed of the Ventilation Fan

Introduction
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
The following test will verify the speed of the ventilation fan. The ventilation gear motor drives the ventilation fan. If the speed of the ventilation fan is not 1900 rpm, the flow control cartridge will need to be replaced. The flow control cartridge is not adjustable.Required Tools

Perform the following procedure before you perform the test procedure that follows:
Park the machine on a level area that is clear from all equipment and material.
Verify that the service brake system and the parking brake system are in good working order.
Block the drive wheels in both directions.
Apply the parking brake.
Make sure that all of the functions of the paver are turned to the OFF position. Place the propel lever in the NEUTRAL position.

Locate fan housing (1) on the machine. Remove duct (2) from the fan housing.

Apply Tooling (A1) (reflective tape) to fan (2), as shown.

Start the engine. Place throttle control switch (3) in high idle position (4) .

Use Tooling (A2) to measure the speed of the fan. The fan speed should be 1900 rpm.
If the fan speed is correct, go to Step 7. If the fan speed needs to be adjusted, go to Step 10.
Stop the engine.
Install duct (2) on fan housing (1). The test is completed.

Stop the engine.
Locate ventilation flow control cartridge (5) on valve bank (6). Remove the ventilation flow control cartridge and replace this cartridge with a new cartridge.
Perform Step 4 through Step 8.
