PROBLEM
The inlet and outlet ports may have been inverted on the fuel/water separator on certain 323D Excavators. If the fuel lines are incorrectly installed, the following conditions may exist: abnormal fuel restriction, loss of power, or the filter element may plug prematurely.

Fuel lines need to be inspected on the products listed below. The inlet and outlet ports may have been inverted on the fuel/water separator causing abnormal fuel restriction, loss of power, and/or the filter element may plug prematurely. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 08Aug2006 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Disassemble the outlet hose of the fuel/water separator located in the battery compartment.

If fuel is coming out of the outlet hose, the inlet and outlet hoses have to be inverted.
