Nine metal support strips are added to provide a more rigid guard assembly. See the illustrations.Adaptable To: The improved 9Y7645 Fan Guard Assembly is effective with 3508 (23Z2571), 3512 (24Z2716), and 3516 (25Z1611) Generator Set Engines and is adaptable to first production. Earlier fan guard assemblies can be upgraded by adding nine reinforcement plates to each assembly (two assemblies per machine). Make eighteen plates [863 mm (34") X 20 mm (.8") X 3 mm (.1")] from low carbon steel. Weld these plates in position as shown in the illustrations.
