Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Operate the machine for a few minutes before obtaining the oil sample. Operate the hydraulic controls. This will thoroughly mix the hydraulic oil for a more accurate sample.

Open the engine access door on the left side of the machine. The sampling valve for the hydraulic oil is located on the hydraulic oil filter base beneath the cab on the left side of the machine.

Use the in-line sampling valve in order to obtain a sample of hydraulic oil.
