Machine System Features
Engine Start Interlock
This feature controls the activation of the starter motor when the keyswitch is placed in the START position. The following conditions will prevent the starter motor being activated:
MSS (if installed and enabled) reports that security access is not granted. When the system is locked out, the MSS symbol will be displayed on the Instrument Cluster. Refer to the KENR - 6669 906H, 907H and 908H Monitoring System manual for details.
The transmission range selector is not in the NEUTRAL position
Battery voltage is more than 16 VDC
The engine is runningE2158 Starter Disabled Due to High System Voltage will set if the ECM detects the battery voltage to be above 16 VDC. The E2158 is a level 3 event.Glow Plug Start Aid Control
The glow plug start aid feature heats the cold induction air in order to aid starting of the engine. The glow plugs will only operate manually. The glow plugs will only be energized when the switch is pressed.Machine Security System (MSS) Key Reader Interface (Optional)
MSS restricts the machine access to a programmable list of authorized electronic keys. Only authorized electronic keys will disarm the security system and permit a user to operate the machine. This feature allows 50 electronic keys to be programmed, and each key can be programmed with an expiration date. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8028, "Engine Starting" for more information. When the system is locked out, the MSS symbol will be displayed on the Instrument Cluster. See Monitoring System manual, KENR 6669 for details.Ride Control Switch (Optional)
This feature is designed to improve driver comfort while the vehicle is traveling. It is a hydraulic system that introduces a pressurized accumulator into the head end of the lift rams and opens the rod side to the tank. This effectively provides suspension to the bucket which reduces the bouncing effect. Ride Control has three modes of operation, selectable by the position of the operator ride control switch:
OFF - Ride Control always inactive (relay output is always off)
ON - Ride Control always active (relay output is always on)
AUTO - Ride Control activates only when above a configurable machine ground speedWhen "AUTO" mode is engaged, the ride control will be activated when machine ground speed increases above the configurable activation speed. Ride Control will deactivate when speed drops 2 km/h (1.2 mph) below the activation speed.Activation speed is configurable in Cat ET via the "RIDE CONTROL ACTIVATION SPEED" configuration parameter. The allowable range is between 6 km/h (3.7 mph) and 15 km/h (9.3 mph). The default speed is 8 km/h (5 mph). The activation state indicator is the lamp in the ride control switch. This lamp is wired in parallel with the ride control relay, and will illuminate whenever the ride control relay is energized.Differential Lock (Optional)
This feature controls the differential lock by engaging the differential lock relay in response to the operator request via the differential lock button on the joystick. The differential lock will only engage when the machine speed is less than 12 km/h
