that is in contact with the oil.The oil cooler transfers heat from the oil to the engine jacket water. If the engine cooling system cannot remove enough heat from the jacket water, the engine oil will not be properly cooled. If the oil temperature is higher than normal, a heat problem has occurred in the lubrication system and/or in the cooling system. This can cause problems with cylinder heads, cylinder liners, pistons, and crankshaft bearings.Jacket Water Temperature - This gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. The inlet temperature of the jacket water is regulated with temperature regulators that are in the cooling system. Never operate the engine without the water temperature regulators.Perform the following procedure if the engine is operating and a high jacket water temperature occurs:
Reduce the load and reduce the engine rpm.
Inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Determine if the engine must be shut down immediately or if the engine can be cooled by reducing the load. High Coolant Temperature Indicator - The high coolant temperature indicator illuminates when the coolant temperature exceeds the setpoint.Low Coolant Temperature Indicator - The low coolant temperature indicator illuminates when the coolant temperature is below the setpoint.Low Coolant Level - The indicator for low coolant level illuminates when the coolant level is low.Separate Circuit Aftercooler (Temperature) - This gauge indicates the temperature of the coolant in the separate circuit aftercooler.Fuel Pressure - This gauge indicates the fuel pressure to the fuel injection pump from the fuel filter. A reduction of fuel pressure usually indicates that a fuel filter is dirty or plugged. As the fuel filter becomes plugged, there will be a noticeable reduction in the engine's performance.Fuel Filter Differential Pressure - This gauge indicates the difference in pressure between the inlet side and the outlet side of the fuel filter elements. As the fuel filter elements become plugged, the fuel filter differential pressure will increase.Low Fuel Level indicator - The low fuel level indicator illuminates when the level of fuel in the fuel tank is low.Air Inlet Restriction - This gauge indicates the difference in air pressure between the inlet side and the engine side of the air cleaner. As the air filter element becomes plugged, the difference in pressure between the two sides of the air cleaner will increase.Air Cleaner Service Indicator - A service indicator is mounted on the air cleaner housing. The service indicator has a colored piston which indicates that the air cleaner requires service.
High inlet manifold air temperature increases the risk of engine damage. Maximum inlet air temperature is 115 °C (235 °F).
Inlet Manifold Air Temperature - This gauge indicates the air temperature to the inlet manifold after the aftercooler. The maximum inlet manifold air temperature should not be more than 30 °C (86 °F) higher than the temperature of the coolant in the separate circuit aftercooler. If the maximum temperature is exceeded, check for the following conditions:
A dirty aftercooler core
A plugged aftercooler core
Excessive inlet air restriction
Leakage of the inlet air
Excessive ambient air
Reduce the load and reduce the engine rpm.
