The 287-0169 Coupling Group needs to be inspected on the products listed below. The coupling hub within the existing 287-0169 Coupling Group, may have been installed incorrectly. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 10Aug2007 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Refer to Service Manual, RENR8648, for Main Hydraulic Pump and Pump Drive Group removal and installation.
1) Remove the main hydraulic pump from the engine.
2) Inspect the coupling hub for correct installation according the Service Manual.
Note: Make sure that the coupling hub is even with the end of the shaft on the main hydraulic pump and that the large cut (5x45) edge is positioned to the pump side and that the small (2x45) edge is positioned to the engine flywheel side, as shown in the Image 1.3.1.

3) If the hub coupling is not positioned correctly, remove the coupling from the main hydraulic pump shaft and reinstall the coupling following the Service Manual procedure.
