Move the parking brake control to the ENGAGED position. Install the steering frame lock (1). Block the wheels.Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".

Open the lowering control valve that is located on the hoist control valve. Loosen O-ring face seal nut (5) on control valve (6). Insert a 3/8 hex wrench into hole (7). Turn the valve counterclockwise until the valve contacts the stops.Note: If the body is not over center, this step may be sufficient enough for the body to lower to the frame. If the body is over center and will not lower, then the remaining steps must be taken.
Carefully loosen the cap on the hydraulic tank.

Remove plug (2) from the manifold. The manifold is located on the trailer.

Install a 6V-3965 Quick Disconnect (3) and a 5P-6944 Adapter to the manifold.Note: The quick disconnect has been factory installed effective with the following serial numbers: AFX724-UP and AGF702-UP.
Tighten the hydraulic tank cap.

Locate the test port for the secondary steering (4) .

Install a hose between quick disconnect (3) and test port (4) .Note: The hose must be equipped with a quick disconnect at either end.
Turn the engine start switch to the ON position.

Turn the steering wheel to the LEFT ( against the steering frame lock). Press the button for the secondary steering. Hold the button for 30 seconds. Release the button. Wait for at least 3 minutes. This will allow the battery to recover.Note: The batteries for the machine must be fully charged in order to perform this procedure.
Repeat step 10 until the body begins to lower under the body's own weight.
When the body is completely lowered, turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Carefully loosen the hydraulic tank cap.

Close the lowering control valve that is located on the hoist control valve. Turn valve (6) in a clockwise direction until the valve is closed. Tighten O-ring face seal nut (5) to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft).
Remove the hose.
Remove quick disconnect (3). Replace plug (2) .
Tighten the cap on the hydraulic tank.
