Remove Flywheel Housing
START BY:a) remove rear crankshaft seal 1. Loosen clamp (1) that holds the air cleaner housing to the turbocharger. 2. Remove bolts (2) and air cleaner housing (3) from the engine. 3. Remove the bolts, tube (4) and the gasket from the engine. 4. Remove the bolts that hold oil pan (8) to the flywheel housing.5. Loosen bolts (6) that hold oil pan (8) to the cylinder block.6. Fasten a hoist to the rear of the engine (flywheel end) and lift it so wooden block (7) can be positioned under oil pan. The weight of the rear of the engine is 624 kg (1375 lb.).7. Install two spacers (5) (one on each side) between oil pan (8) and the cylinder block. Lower the engine on wooden block (7). 8. Bolts (9) have different lengths and diameters. Put numbers of identification on them for correct assembly.9. Fasten tool (A) to flywheel housing (10). Remove nineteen bolts (9), flywheel housing (10) and the gasket from the engine. The weight of the flywheel housing is 39 kg (85 lb.).Install Flywheel Housing
1. Thoroughly clean the flywheel housing and cylinder block surfaces.
The flywheel housing, cylinder block and the gasket must be clean and dry. Gasket adhesives or other substances must not be used on these surfaces.
2. Put gasket (1) in position on the engine block as shown.3. Install two 1/2"-13 NC x 4" long guide bolts (2) on the engine block. 4. Fasten tool (A) to flywheel housing (3) and put it into position on the engine block as shown. 5. Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts that fasten the flywheel housing to the cylinder block.a) Tighten bolts 1 through 9 in number sequence to a torque of 135 14 (100 10 lb.ft.).b) Tighten bolts 10 through 19 in number sequence to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb.ft.).c) Tighten bolts 1 through 9 again in number sequence to a torque of 135 14 N m (100 10 lb.ft.).d) Tighten bolts 10 through 19 again in number sequence to a torque of 55 7 N m (40 5 lb.ft.). 6. Fasten a hoist to the rear of the engine and lift it enough so that wooden block (6) can be removed and positioned under the flywheel housing.7. Remove spacers (4) and install and tighten the bolts that hold the oil pan (5) to the cylinder block. 8. Inspect seal (8) for wear or damage and make a replacement if necessary.9. Install tube (7) and the gasket on the engine. 10. Install air cleaner housing (9) on the engine and tighten the clamp that holds the air cleaner housing to the turbocharger.END BY:a) install rear crankshaft seal
