Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to the Service Manual, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
Remove the mounting bracket (if equipped). Refer to the Service Manual, "Mounting Bracket - Remove and Install".
Remove the buffer (if equipped).
Remove the hammer plates. Refer to Service Manual, RENR4405, "Hammer Plates - Remove and Install".

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury.To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly.

Remove plug (1).

Slowly turn purge screw (2) in a counterclockwise direction. Turn the screw until the nitrogen gas starts to escape from the accumulator. Stop turning the screw.
When the gas stops escaping, turn the purge screw for another 360 degrees in a counterclockwise direction.
Remove purge screw (2).
Install 7Q-8401 Lifting Eye.

Remove bolts (3). The model of hammer will determine the number of bolts.
Use 7Q-8401 Lifting Eye and a suitable lifting device to lift the accumulator from the control valve. Refer to Table 1 for the weight of the accumulator on your hammer.

Slowly lift the accumulator from the control valve.
