Generator Cooling and Lubrication System
(1) Generator oil filter

(9) Filter bypass valveWhen the engine is running, generator lube oil pump (5) produces flow. The generator lube oil pump provides hydraulic flow for the cooling and lubrication of the generator system.Oil from pump (5) is directed through generator oil cooler (4) to generator oil filter (1). Filter bypass valve (9) protects the lubrication system if the filter is clogged. If the pressure differential across the filter is greater than 517 kPa (75 psi), the bypass valve opens. When the valve opens, oil flows directly to generator lubricator (7).The housing of generator oil filter (1) contains filter bypass switch (2). This switch opens when the differential across the filter is greater than 345 kPa (50 psi). This switch sends a signal to the machine ECM to alert the operator to a possible clogged filter.Check valve (8) is installed in parallel with generator oil cooler (4). If the pressure across the cooler and generator oil filter (1) increases to 700 kPa (100 psi), the check valve opens. In this case, lubrication oil flows through the check valve to generator lubricator (7). This action provides oil to the generator lubricator when the oil cooler is blocked.Pressure sensor (3) monitors the hydraulic pressure at the outlet of generator oil filter (1). This sensor transmits pressure information to the machine ECM.
