1. Remove bolts (1) that hold the brake drum (2) to the output flange. Remove the brake drum. 2. Remove the bolt and retainer (3) that hold the output flange (4) in position on the transmission output shaft. Turn the brake adjusting mechanism to the loosest position. 3. Remove the springs (5) and retainer (6) that hold the two brake shoes (7) on the backing plate. Remove the brake shoes and brake adjustment mechanism (8). 4. Remove the bolts (9) that hold the backing plate (10) to the transmission and remove the backing plate.Install Parking Brake
1. Install the brake backing plate (2). Install bolts (1) that hold the backing plate to the transmission. 2. Install the brake shoes (4) and brake adjusting mechanism (5). Install the springs and retainer for the brake shoes.3. Install output flange (3). Install the bolt and retainer. 4. Install the brake drum (6) on the output shaft. Install the bolts that hold it to the output shaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 10 lb.ft. (135.6 13.6 N m).5. Adjust the parking brake as follows: a) Release the parking brake lever. b) Turn adjustment wheel up through opening (7) until the brake shoes are in the seat against the drum.c) Turn the wheel back off eight to ten notches.end by:a) install rear drive shaft.
