Make sure that the following bolts are loose. Refer to Illustrations 16 and 17.
4 bolts (A) (both sides) on ladder latch (1A)
4 bolts (B) (both sides) on ladder latch (1A)
4 bolts (C) on support assembly (3A)
3 bolts (D) on support assembly (3A)
5 bolts (B) on hinge assembly (4A)Note: The letter designations for the latch adjustment procedure differ from the reference parts during the installation procedure.

(L2) Ladder Latch Locking Pins
With the bolts loose, raise the ladder. As locking pins (L2) engage the ladder, the latch should align to the ladder. Ladder latch locking pins (L2) should be fully engaged (top and bottom) before proceeding to the next Step. If the pins are not fully engaged, repeat this Step making sure that the components are loose as per the previous Step. Refer to Illustration 18.

3 bolts (A) on support assembly (3A)
4 bolts (B) on support assembly (3A)
4 bolts (C) (both sides) on ladder latch (1A)
4 bolts (D) (both sides) on ladder latch (1A)
5 bolts (C) on hinge assembly (4A)Note: The letter designations for the latch adjustment procedure differ from the reference parts during the installation procedure.

If ladder latch (1A) needs to be tilted, add shim packs (20) and (21). Refer to Illustration 21. Repeat the tightening sequence in the previous Step.

After adjusting the latch, lower the ladder. Adjust bracket assembly (5A) as needed. Tighten 2 bolts (6A). Refer to Illustration 22.Installing the Taillight Bolt and Washer
