Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the gear motor from the vibratory compactor. Refer to Service Manual, "Gear Motor - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before operating any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.After collecting all fluids in suitable containers, dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove two bolts (1) that secure cover plate (2) to plate (3) .
Remove cover plate (2). Remove the O-ring from the cover plate.

The side of the compactor that does not contain the motor
Remove spacer (4) .
Remove six bolts (5) and the six washers that secure plate (3) to the compactor. Plate (3) contains bearing assembly (6) .Note: A rod will be used in order to assist in the removal of the eccentric weight. The length of the rod will depend on the size of the compactor. When the rod is inserted into the eccentric weight shaft, both ends of the rod will be used in order to lift the eccentric weight. This will allow removal of the necessary components.
Insert rod (8) into eccentric weight shaft (7). Lift rod (8) in order to keep the eccentric weight in position for removing bearing assembly (6) .
Use a hammer and a brass drift in order to tap eccentric weight shaft (7) out of plate (3) and bearing assembly (6) .

Motor side of the compactor
Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for the plate and the bearing assembly on the motor side of the compactor.

With two people, lift rod (8) in order to raise eccentric weight (7) to the center of the bore in the base of the compactor.
Remove eccentric weight (7). Refer to Table 1 for the weight of the eccentric weight.
