SR4 Generator (1) Generator Shaft (2) Fan (3) Bearing (4) Main Armature (5) Main Field (6) Screened Orifices The SR4 generator has the following characteristics:
Three-phase alternating current
Brushless type
Four pole or six pole designStationary main armature (4) bolts to the engine flywheel housing. A flexible plate type coupling connects generator shaft (1) to the engine flywheel. Rotating main field (5) is keyed directly to generator shaft (1) .The generator is a self-ventilated generator. Air enters the generator through openings that are located at the rear of the generator. Air exits through screened orifices (6) at the drive coupling end of the generator. Fan (2) attaches to the engine flywheel. Bearing (3) supports the exciter end of generator shaft (1). Note: Some larger generators have two bearings. In this case, there will be a bearing at each end of the generator shaft.
