Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the swing cylinder.
Remove the swing frame.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect tube assembly (1).

Attach a suitable lifting device to sliding frame (2). The weight of sliding frame (2) is approximately 306 kg (675 lb).
Remove bolts (5) and bar (4). Repeat for the other side.
Loosen bolts (3). Repeat for the other side. Remove sliding frame (2).

Position sliding frame (2) onto suitable cribbing.
Remove bolt (8) and plate (7).
Remove hose assemblies (6).
Remove bolts (3) and bars (9).

Remove bolts (10) and the washers. Remove clamp cylinder (11) and plate (16).
Remove piston (14) and seal (15) from the clamp cylinder (11).
Remove wear rings (13) and seal (12) from piston (14).
