Ensure that the lynch pin is still secure in the opposite end of the manual locking pin.The manual locking pin (1) locks into position behind the manually secured hook (2) in order to prevent the manually secured hook (2) from retracting. The ratchet (4) adjusts the internal screw (3) .

Accumulated grease and oil on a work tool is a fire hazard.Remove debris with steam cleaning or high pressure water at any time a significant quantity of oil is spilled on the work tool.
The Caterpillar Quick Coupler (Cast Manual Pin Grabber Coupler) is compatible with Caterpillar hydra-mechanical tools but may experience increased wear where there is long exposure to excessive vibration. The vibration caused by extensive use of a hydraulic hammer as well as the added weight of certain demolition tools such as shears, crushers, and pulverizers may cause premature wear and decreased service life of the coupler.Be sure to carefully inspect the coupler daily for cracks, bent components, wear, distressed welds, etc. when operating with any of the above work tools.
Clean any trash or debris from the coupler.Inspect the welds, the pins, and the bores for damage. If the components are damaged, consult your Caterpillar dealer.Perform all repairs before the quick coupler is put into service.
