SMCS Code: 1000-7000.Proper welding procedures are necessary to avoid damage to electronic controls. Before welding on a machine or engine equipped with electronic controls, the following procedures should be observed:1. Turn off the engine and put the engine start switch in the OFF position. 2. Disconnect the negative battery cable to the machine batteries or turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key.3. Connect the welder ground cable directly to the actual machine member to be welded. Place this clamp as close as possible to the weld to reduce the possibility of welding current damage to the drive train bearings, hydraulic components, electrical components, ground straps and other machine components.
Failure to comply to these precautions may result in damage to the machine's electrical system and electronic components.
4. Protect any harnesses from welding debris or spatter.5. Use standard welding procedures to weld the materials together.
