Get a product status report from the generator set and confirm the proper RTD module programming. Use table 2 or 3 for the correct parameters and change as necessary.
Confirm that the RTD Module is programmed with the latest software. Download the Current software available in the Service Information System (SIS).High Stator and Bearing Nuisance Shutdowns
A nuisance shutdown is not likely after fixing the RTD module programming and ensuring good connections in the RTD module 40-pin connector. For some critical applications where a high bearing or stator temperature shutdown due to a bad RTD sensor cannot be tolerated, perform the procedure below or disable the RTD module.
To decrease the likelihood of an RTD failure, enable only one input per phase.
Program the RTD shutdown set point to the maximum value of 1700° C (3092° F).RTD Module Disabling Procedure
Disabling the RTD module will remove the ability to monitor the temperatures of the stator and bearing within the Electronic Modular Control Panel (EMCP).
Connect the Cat ET Service tool to the Controller Area Network (CAN) 2 service connector.
Using the Cat ET Service tool find the RTD module and change the "RTD Input # x Sensor Type configuration" to "Not Installed" for all eight channels.Refer to illustration 1.
In the Cat ET Service tool, in the configuration tool menu, under the EMCPx.x, find "Enhance Generator Monitor"and change "Generator Winding Temperature Sensor Installation Status"and "Generator Bearing Temperature Sensor Installation Configuration"to "Not Installed".Refer to illustration 2.
