This Program must be administered assoon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI30053" as the Partnumber and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim DescriptionCode and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair isdone after failure, use "PI30053" as the Part Number, "7751" as the GroupNumber, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMSDescription Code. Please refer to PI30025 for the properinspection and rework procedure for 3500 machine engines. This Revised Service Letter replacesthe July 17, 2000 (Revised April 2001) Service Letter. Changes have beenmade to the Service Claim Allowances.

Main bearing caps may crack and need to be inspectedon certain 3508, 3512 and 3516 Engines. A process was omitted during themanufacturing of certain main caps used in 3500 engine cylinder block.Because of the omitted process, there is a chance that the main cap maycrack and cause the crank to operate unsupported. The unsupported operationof the crankshaft may cause the crankshaft to break and may cause an enginefailure.AFFECTED PRODUCT

However, if any of the above listedengines have reached overhaul or do not have the 'D05' or 'R05' stamp duringoverhaul, these engines should be inspected for cracks and needle peenedduring the overhaul.PARTS NEEDED
