Frame Inspect Procedure
The following extended frame inspection has been developed to assist the customer in maintaining the expected frame life. This inspection is aimed at finding minor cracks within welds. Early detection of cracks will allow for preventative maintenance, which will help enhance frame life. Perform weld inspections every 1000 hours in the areas outlined within this Special Instruction.The presence of cracks should be verified using dye-penetrant. If any cracks are discovered, submit a DSN ticket with a detailed description along with pictures so that Caterpillar can deliver the proper repair procedure.
