TM-2 The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4033" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Some 3508B, 3512B, and 3516B Marine Engines have experienced throttle software corruption. The throttle corruption may cause the engine's speed to fluctuate. The speed fluctuation is audible and can be viewed on the Electronic Technician Service Tool as a rapid rpm fluctuation when the speed burps.
This is not a fix to synchronize multiple throttles.

Action Required
Flash new software onto the primary and backup Electronic Control Module (ECM).
The new software part number is determined from the attachment. A pre-programmed control group (personality module for service replacement) can also be ordered from the parts system, but it is recommended to flash software into the ECM by down-loading software from SIS cd rom or from the Caterpillar mailbox through Hyperaccess/5.
