Remove the slack adjuster. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Slack Adjuster - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Inspect the seals and the O-ring seals. Replace the seals and the O-ring seals that are worn or damaged.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove housing (2) from base (1). Remove spring (4). Remove piston (3) from housing (2). Repeat this step for the remaining housing.

If necessary, remove nipple (5). Remove O-ring seal (6) and O-ring seal (7) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove retaining ring (8) .
Remove piston housing (9), spring (10), spring (11), piston assembly (12), and O-ring seal (13) .
Remove seal (14), O-ring seal (15), and ring (16) .
Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the remaining piston.
