Illustration 1. Typical radiator assembly with folded core modules.
Illustration 2. Typical radiator assembly with multiple row modules. The multiple row modules have a lower fin density (9 fins per inch) than the folded core modules (33 fins per inch). Because the multiple row modules are more open to air flow through the core (lower fin density), they are more resistant to plugging by fine, fibrous or fluffy debris.
It is important that the multiple row modules are correctly installed. Notice that the holes in the top and bottom radiator tanks where the radiator modules are inserted, are not equally spaced. See Illustration 3. The holes are offset 4.5 mm (.18") to provide the correct spacing for the folded core radiator trash gap. Because there is no trash gap (spacing) between adjacent multiple row modules and because the hole spacing in the radiator top and bottom tanks is not equal, the neck is not centered in ends of the multiple row modules. The neck is offset 2.3 mm (.09"). See Illustration 4. The orientation of the multiple row module can be determined in two ways. First, the two small embossed ribs on the module end tanks are on the side of the module with the larger dimension. See Illustration 5. Second, the center stiffener notch is toward the side of the module with the larger dimension.

Illustration 4. Offset neck on top and bottom of multiple row modules.
Illustration 5. Identification points for orientation of multiple row modulesWhen assembling the radiator with multiple row modules, install the first module on the left side of the radiator. The two small ribs and center stiffener notch on the module should be toward the right side of the radiator. Install the second module next to the first module. The side of the second module with two ribs and the center stiffener notch should be toward the first module. See Illustration 6. The remaining odd numbered modules (third, fifth, seventh, etc.) should be installed like the first module. The remaining even numbered modules (fourth, sixth, eighth, etc.) should be installed like the second module.
Illustration 6. Orientation of multiple row modules in radiator assembly. The radiator conversion groups for each of the above machines follow. The radiator conversion group part numbers are not serviced, but the components of the radiator conversion groups listed are serviced.
Both standard and sound suppression radiator groups are used on most of the machines listed. Generally, the sound suppression radiator groups have more core assemblies than the standard radiator groups. In most cases, different radiator conversion groups are required for the standard and sound suppression radiator groups.Radiator Conversion Groups For D4H Tractors (8PB, 9DB, 2AC, 3AC)
