Introduction
Drawbar ball clearance specifications have changed. The new specifications, with periodic adjustments, should increase service life of the inserts.For all 12F, 12G, 14E, 14G, 16, 120G, 130G, and 140G Motor Graders that use three 2G7464 Inserts.For the 16G Motor Grader use three 2G7463 Inserts.Use the procedure that follows to install new inserts and adjust the drawbar ball clearance.Reference: Service Manual.Installation
1. Remove bolts (6) that attach cap (4) to the front frame. 2. Install the correct inserts (1) and adapter (2) on the ball without shims (3).3. Install bolts (5) that hold the adapter to cap (4).4. Measure the clearance between the cap and adapter with a feeler gauge.5. Remove the adapter.6. Install shims (3), between adapter (2) and cap (4), equal to the amount of clearance measured in Step 4, plus additional shims required to provide a drawbar ball clearance of 0.05 to 0.25 mm (0.002 to 0.010").Holding the clearance to a minimum will provide a longer service life of the inserts.7. Put the adapter in position and install bolts (5) that fasten the adapter to the cap.8. Install bolts (6) that attach cap (4) and adapter (2) to the front frame. Tighten the bolts. Observe drawbar movement as wear occurs. Adjust when necessary using clearance as specified in Step 6.
