Installation Procedure
Illustration 5 g02777616
Move the machine to a hard, level surface. Align steering frame lock indicator (1) and steering frame lock indicator (2). Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.
Check that the steering frame lock bores in the front frame and the rear frame are aligned.
Illustration 6 g02791556
Remove steering frame lock pin (3) from the stored position.
Illustration 7 g02791558
Place steering frame lock pin (3) in the installed position.
Ensure steering frame lock pin (3) passes through the three bores.
Illustration 8 g02777621
Typical example
Machine frames can move and the steering frame lock pin can be expelled if the steering frame lock pin is only partially installed or the pin bevel is in contact with the upper edge of the front frame.Personal injury can result from machine articulation or movement.Ensure that the steering frame lock pin is installed through the machine frame bore before moving the steering control.
If steering frame lock pin (3) is only partially installed in front frame (4) or pin bevel (5) stops steering frame lock pin (3) from entering front frame (4), perform Step 8 through Step 14.
Remove steering frame lock pin (3) and place in the stored position.
Start the engine.
Disengage the parking brake.
Realign the steering frame lock bores in the front frame and the rear frame.
Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.
Place steering frame lock pin (3) in the installed position and ensure steering frame lock pin (3) passes through the three bores.
Illustration 9 g02777622
Typical example
If steering frame lock pin (3) passes through the bore in front frame (4) or further and cannot be removed to realign the pin bores, perform Step 16 through Step 21.
Remove all personnel apart from the operator from within 1.0 m (3.28 ft) of the machine.
Start the engine.
Disengage the parking brake.
Slowly move the steering control in one direction and then in the opposite direction until steering frame lock pin (3) moves through the three frame bores.
Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement. Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed. Connect the steering frame lock between the front and rear frames before working on the machine. Before operating the machine, place the steering frame lock in the stored position.Failure to place the steering frame lock into the stored position before operating can result in loss of steering.
