Information:

Step 1. CHECK THE LOCKUP CLUTCH SWITCHThe power train ECM will diagnose most faults in the lockup clutch. The power train ECM does not diagnose a fault with the wire for the lockup clutch switch G785-GN at connector J1-32 on the power train ECM.
If the lockup clutch function does not operate correctly, check the display of the control for a related fault. Correct any related faults that are shown.
If no related faults are present or the related faults have been corrected, then check the circuit for the lockup enable switch.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the power train ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the power train ECM, check connector J1-32 (wire G785-GN) for correct operation with the switch in both positions. Refer to the Electrical System Schematic, RENR6252.Results:
OK - The circuit works correctly and the problem remains. The power train ECM is faulty.Repair: Replace the power train ECM. See the subject Control Replacement. Stop.
NOT OK - The circuit works incorrectly. The machine harness or the lockup clutch switch is faulty.Repair: Troubleshoot the machine harness and the lockup enable switch. Disconnect the machine harness from the switch. Check the machine harness and the switch for continuity, shorts and open circuits. Refer to the Electrical System Schematic, RENR6252. Repair the faulty component or replace the faulty component. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK THE REDUCED RIMPULL SWITCHThe power train ECM diagnoses most faults in the reduced rimpull switch. The power train ECM does not diagnose a fault with the reduced rimpull switch or the wire for the reduced rimpull switch F741-WH at connector J1-34 on the power train ECM.
If the reduced rimpull switch does not operate correctly, then check the display of the control for a related fault. Correct any related faults that are shown.
If no related faults are present or the related faults have been corrected, then check the reduced rimpull switch and the circuits for the reduced rimpull selection switch.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the power train ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the power train ECM, check the correct operation for the following connectors: J1-34, J1-4 and J1-16. Perform the preceding check with the switches in all positions. Refer to the Electrical System Schematic, RENR6252.Results:
OK - The circuits work correctly and the problem remains. The power train ECM is faulty.Repair: Replace the power train ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module - Replace". Stop.
NOT OK - The circuit works incorrectly. The machine harness or the reduced rimpull switch is faulty.Repair: Troubleshoot the machine harness and the reduced rimpull switches. Disconnect the machine harness from the switch. Check the machine harness and the switches for continuity, shorts and open circuits. Refer to the Electrical System Schematic, RENR6252. Repair the faulty component or replace the faulty component. Stop.
