1     1     6Y-0859 Duo-Cone Seal Gp     Rubber toric seals must be clean and dry at assembly. All surfaces that contact the seal group must be clean and dry at assembly. Before assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. Seal rings must be assembled squarely with the bore. The toric ring must not bulge and the toric ring must not be twisted. Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS8364, "Assembly and Installation of Conventional Duo-Cone Seals".    
-     -     -     Be sure that there is metal to metal contact between the retainer (3) and the spindle (2) before the bolts (4) are tightened.    
4     10     2B-0947 Bolt     Torque to
135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).    
-     -     -     Be sure that there is metal to metal contact between the plate and the shaft before the bolts (5) are tightened. After all plates are bolted to the shafts, check that the gears can be rotated by hand. If necessary, free the gears. Use appropriate tooling. Drive the covers toward the carrier in order to free the gears.

-     -     -     When you assemble do not apply excessive force to the lip type seal. Excessive force can damage the lip type seal and result to cause malfunction.    
7     1     419-4175 Lip Type Seal     Lubricate the lip of the lip type seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Then install the lip type seal with the side that is marked "this side in" toward the spindle end of the spindle.
