Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine oil filter housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Housing - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove the bolts and cover (1).

Remove retainer (2), spring (3), and O-ring seal (4) from cover (1).

Remove the bolts and bypass valve housing (6). The weight of bypass valve housing (6) is approximately 43 kg (95 lb).

Remove adapter (8). Remove O-ring seal (9) from the adapter.

Remove O-ring seal (11) and pins (10), if necessary.
