At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Drain the coolant only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap from the radiator slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator. The capacity of the cooling system is 71 L (19 gal).2. Remove the engine side guards. 3. Remove eight bolts (3) and the washer, and remove radiator hose assembly (4).4. Remove four bolts (5) and the washers, and remove channel assembly (6).5. Remove four bolts (7) and the washers, and twelve bolts (2) and the washers; and remove fan guard assembly (1). 6. Remove six bolts (10) and the washers and remove strip (9) and radiator baffling (8). 7. Remove two bolts (16), the washers and strip (15). Remove two bolts (13), the washers and strip (11). Do not remove bolt (14).8. Remove five bolts (17) and the washers, and remove shield (12). 9. Remove two bolts (19), the washers and strip (18). Remove two bolts (22), the washers and strip (21). Do not remove bolt (24).10. Remove five bolts (20) and the washers, and remove shield (23). 11. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to the radiator guard as shown. 12. Remove four bolts (22) and the washers, and disconnect elbow (21) from the radiator.13. Remove bolt (23), the washer and retainer (24) from both rear pins.
Typical Example14. Install tooling (B) and remove the rear pins.15. Slowly and carefully, tilt the radiator guard and radiator until it stops. The following steps are for tilting the radiator guard and radiator back.16. Fasten tooling (A) and a hoist to the radiator guard. Slowly and carefully, tilt the radiator guard and radiator back to an upright position. Install the two rear pins.17. Install retainer (24), the washer and bolt (23) to both rear pins.18. Inspect the gasket located between elbow (21) and the radiator and replace if necessary. Put elbow (21) in position and install four bolts (22) and the washers.19. Put shield (23) in position and install five bolts (20) and the washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 10 lb ft).20. Put strip (18) in position, and install two bolts (19) and the washers.21. Put strip (21) in position, and install two bolts (22) and the washers.22.
