 Information:
 Tractors;
910, 931 LoadersReference: "Improved Wing Nut Assembly For Air Cleaner Element", Service Magazine, January 5, 1976, Page 12. The reference article tells about the use of a new wing nut assembly to hold the element assembly in the air cleaner on D3 Tractors, 910 and 931 Loaders. The new nut is made of different material to prevent possible seizure and thread damage. The article gives a recommendation to inspect the air cleaner body or pipe which holds the stud for possible cracks or other damage, and to inspect the stud threads for possible damage. A recommendation is also made to put anti-seize compound on the stud threads before the wing nut assembly is installed.
Field reports show that some machines are still in operation with loose air cleaner elements and damaged wing nuts. Since the air cleaner is very important for maximum engine service life, make a note to check the element and wing nut any time service work is done on a customer's machine. Installation of a new 6N7675 Wing Nut Assembly, with a small amount of 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound, can save your customer some high-cost engine repairs.
