Position the work tool with the shells in the open position on a flat surface. Refer to Illustration 1 for the correct position. You may also position the work tool on the side with the shells in the open position on a flat surface. Refer to Illustration 2 for the correct position.
Stop the engine of the host machine in order to prevent inadvertent movement of the work tool.

Check all the rotator head bolts (2) in outer ring (1) of the rotator. If any of the rotator head bolts (2) are missing, all the rotator head bolts (2) and the washers in outer ring (1) must be replaced.ReferenceContact your Caterpillar dealer for replacement of the rotator head bolts.

Remove bolts (4) and washers (5) .
Remove cover (3) from both sides of housing (6) .

Check all the rotator head bolts (7) on the inside of housing (6) . If any of the rotator head bolts (7) are missing, all the rotator head bolts (7) and the washers on the inside of housing (6) must be replaced.ReferenceContact your Caterpillar dealer for replacement of the rotator head bolts.

Check all the rotator head bolts (8) in inner ring (9) of the rotator. Only one rotator head bolt (8) will be accessible at a time through the inspection hole (10) . If any of the rotator head bolts (8) are missing, all the rotator head bolts (8) and the washers in inner ring (9) must be replaced.Note: Rotate the work tool in order to view all rotator head bolts (8) .ReferenceContact your Caterpillar dealer for replacement of the rotator head bolts.
Install cover (3) . Install washers (4) and bolts (5) . Install the cover assemblies on both sides of housing (6) .
