Do not make any adjustments to the control linkage with engine running.
Adjustment of Transmission Control Linkage
1. Disconnect yoke (11) on cable assembly (13) from lever.2. Disconnect yoke (10) on cable assembly (14) from lever.3. Move direction selector spool (6) to the FORWARD position against stop (7) by pulling out on cable assembly (13).4. Move speed selector spool (8) to the NEUTRAL position against stop (9) by pushing in on cable assembly (14).5. Check length of cable assemblies inside housing (12) as shown. Make adjustments if needed. Dimension (A) must be 95.0 mm (3.75 in).6. Move the transmission lock lever (4) to the ON position (pushed down). Move transmission selector lever (1) to the FORWARD NEUTRAL position.7. Make adjustment, as needed, to the length of rod assembly (3) and/or yoke (11) on cable assembly (13) until the pin can be installed in the lever.8. Make adjustments, as needed, to the length of rod assembly (2) and/or yoke (10) on cable assembly (14) until the pin can be installed in the lever.9. Move transmission lock lever (4) to the OPERATING position (pulled up).10. With the cover off of housing (12), move transmission selector lever (1) to all positions. A detent must be felt in each position. Also check to make sure that the jam nuts on the cables do not make contact with the shields on the cables. Final adjustment, if needed, may be obtained by doing one of the following:a. Loosen the cable that needs adjusting at the housing on the fuel tank console and move the cable in or out to obtain the desired adjustment.b. Loosen the housing at the transmission (shown in View B-B) and thread the housing in or out to obtain the desired adjustment.
