Introduction
This special instruction provides a replacement procedure to replace the full open protected labyrinth (OPL) with a partial-OPL on the final drive housing. The new partial-OPL design of the final drives prevents mud packing which leads to final drive oil leaks at the duo-cone seals. The new partial-OPL final drive design should be used on hydraulic excavator that has had final drive oil leaks due to mud packing.Safety Section
