Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fan guard assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Guard - Remove and Install".

Remove cover (1) from the machine.

Loosen collar (7). Turn adjusting bolt (8) in order to loosen V-belt (9). Remove V-belt (9) from A/C compressor (10) (if equipped).Note: Belt (9) for the A/C compressor must be removed before belt (6) for alternator (3) can be removed.
Loosen alternator mounting bolt (11). Loosen tension adjusting bolt (5) and bolt (4). Relieve tension on the two V-belts (6) by moving alternator (3) toward the engine.
Remove V-belts (6). Installation Procedure
Check the condition of the V-belts for wear or damage. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "V-Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the proper procedure. Replace the V-belts, if necessary.

Typical example
Install V-belts (6). Use bolt (4) in order to adjust the tension of the V-belts. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "V-Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the proper adjustment procedure.
Tighten nut (5) to a torque of 41 8 N m (30 6 lb ft). Tighten bolt (11) to a torque of 21 4 N m (15 3 lb ft).
Install V-belt (9). Adjust the tension of V-belt (9) with bolt (8). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7421, "V-Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace" for the proper adjustment procedure.
Tighten collar (7) to a torque of 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).

Install backup alarm (2) .
