1. Lift the front end of the machine until the front suspension struts are fully extended.2. Put the front wheels in position so dimension (A), distance from the pin center of the right tie rod to the rear face of the front axle, is the same as dimension (B), distance from the pin center of the left tie rod to the rear face of the front axle.3. Check the position of pitman arm (3) of the steering gear. Put a straight edge along the marks on the end of steering gear shaft and on the end of the pitman arm. The straight edge should go through the center bolt that holds steering gear housing (2). Go to Step 5, if the pitman arm is in the correct position. 4. Disconnect link (1) from the pitman arm, if the position of the pitman arm is not correct. Turn pitman arm (3) until it is in the correct position, see Step 3. Adjust the length of link (1) and connect it to the pitman arm. Check to see if dimension (A) is still the same as dimension (B). A second method can be used if the marks on the pitman arm and the steering gear shaft cannot be seen. Disconnect link (1) from the pitman arm. Count the number of rotations it takes to turn the steering wheel from stop to stop. Turn the steering wheel one-half the number of stop to stop rotations. Adjust the length of link (1) and connect it to the pitman arm.5. Measure dimensions (C) and (D). Toe-out, dimension (C), should be 2.31 in. (58.7 mm) longer than dimension (D).6. If the toe-out is not correct, adjust rods (4) and (5) to get the correct toe-out. The length of rods (4) and (5) must be the same when the toe-out is correct.
