Information:

Lower or block bowl and close ejector floor before performing maintenance or adjustments in the bowl area.
Elevator Chain
Measure the slack of the elevator chain.Measure slack of each chain from the bottom of the elevator frame to the top of the bottom chain loop, midway between the sprocket and the lower roller.Measurement should be 9 to 14 inches (22.8 to 35.6 cm), with not more than 2 inches (4 cm) difference from one side to the other. To Adjust:
LATER MACHINES 1. Attach one end of jack to hole in elevator frame and the other end to the adjuster roller bracket. 2. Remove bolt from adjuster arm. Operate jack as required to increase or decrease slack of chain. 3. Install bolt in adjuster arm through an elevator frame hole.4. Remove jack and use it to adjust chain on opposite side.5. After use, keep jack in machine tool box. EARLY MACHINES 1. Remove cap (A) on elevator frame. Loosen clamps (B). 2. To decrease chain slack add grease at fitting.3. To increase slack loosen fitting until grease escapes. Tighten fitting when adjustment is correct. 4. Install cap and tighten clamps.5. Adjust chain on opposite side. Be sure sprocket shaft is parallel to idler roller center line. All Machines
If adjuster travel cannot correct chain tension, an offset link can be used. An offset link can take the place of two links to decrease slack ... ... or be added to the chain between two links to increase slack.
Be sure offset links are installed in pairs, one on each chain, between the same two elevator flights.
Cutting Edges
Cutting edges can be aligned for finish work. For penetration, move the center edge to the rear bolt position. Cutting edges can be rotated 180° for double wear. End edges can be moved to opposite sides for longer wear life. Router bits can be turned over and installed on opposite sides. Bolt on cutting edge teeth can be used for better penetration of hard material.
Support the cutting edge before removing mounting bolts.
Do not hard surface weld on cutting edges. Welding on cutting edges can result in premature failure.Change or rotate cutting edges before the mounting surface becomes worn.
1. Remove cutting edges and clean all mounting surfaces.2. Rotate, install new edges or make edge adjustments as necessary. See the Lubrication and Maintenance Guide for recommended bolt torques for ground engaging tools.Opening at Cutting Edge
Block elevator frame securely when working in this area.
The opening between the cutting edge and the elevator flights can be adjusted from 1 - 1/2 to 24 inches (4 to 60 cm). A smaller opening is helpful in retaining loose material such as sand. 1. Measure opening to determine amount of shims to be added or removed. 2. Raise and block elevator high enough for access to hanger support shim pack. 3. Add shims to increase size of opening. Remove shims to decrease size of opening.
