Schematic of the backup alarmThis diagnostic code is recorded when the Computerized Profiler Control ECM detects an above normal voltage of the circuit for the backup alarm. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The energizer circuit of the backup alarm is shorted to the +battery.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 637 FMI 03 is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use the 146-4080 Digital Multimeter for the measurements in this procedure.System Response:The machine response is listed below:
A fault that affects the backup alarm will sound the backup alarm.Test Step 1. CHECK THE ENERGIZER CIRCUIT OF THE BACKUP ALARM FOR A SHORT TO +BATTERY.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the component.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the ECM machine harness connector, measure the resistance from the energizer circuit or signal contact 31 (wire 321-BR) to all possible sources of +battery. The possible sources of positive voltage are contacts 1, 10, 11, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38.Expected Result:Each resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms. There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the signal contact 31 (wire 321-BR) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode of the Computerized Profiler Control ECM and clear all inactive faults.
Operate the machine.
Check the status of the CID 637 FMI F03.Expected Result:The CID 637 FMI F03 is active. Results:
OK - The CID 637 FMI F03 is active. The diagnostic code has not been corrected. Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. Refer to the Electrical Schematic of the machine and check all involved wiring harness connectors and wiring. Ensure that the connector contacts are clean. Also, ensure that the connector contacts are in good condition. Ensure that all the wiring of the machine harness are in good condition. If the cause of this diagnostic code is not found, replace the Computerized Profiler Control ECM. See the Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) − Replace" Story in this manual.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 637 FMI F03 is not active. The diagnostic code does not exist at this time. Repair: The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation.STOP
