Information:
problem with the components that send fuel to the engine can cause low fuel pressure. This can cause low power, hard starting, and engine stalling.
Check the fuel level in the fuel tank. Do not rely on the fuel gauge.
Ensure that the vent in the fuel cap is not filled with dirt.
Check all fuel lines for fuel leakage. The fuel lines must be free from restrictions and faulty bends. Verify that the fuel return line is not collapsed.
Check that there is no air in the clear fuel filter. If air is present in the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance ManualFuel System Priming Pump - Operate. If air is still present after priming, refer to Testing and Adjusting, Air in Fuel - Test.
Change the fuel filter and in-line screen that is prior to the fuel transfer pump. Inspect for excess contamination. Determine the source of the contamination and drain the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain to drain the tank.
Check fuel quality. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, Fuel Quality - Test for the proper procedure. Check the fuel tank for debris or foreign objects which may block the fuel supply.
Check for the proper operation of the fuel transfer pump. The pump should create approximately 5 psi of pressure when dead headed. The pump should move approximately 0.1 gpm when there is free flow. Replace the fuel transfer pump if the pump does not meet these specifications.
