Illustration 1 g01408088This diagnostic code is associated with the "LH Offset Switch" that is used for setting the offset for the left end of the blade. The FMI 03 diagnostic code means that the ECM has determined that the voltage of the switch circuit is above normal. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The switch has failed.
The switch is shorted to the +battery circuit.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 2261 FMI 03 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SWITCH.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the Switch.
Table 1
Contacts State of Switch
Increment Neutral Decrement
Contacts 1 to 2 Less than 5Ω Greater than 5kΩ Greater than 5kΩ
Contacts 2 to 4 Greater than 5kΩ Less than 5Ω Greater than 5kΩ
Contacts 2 to 6 Greater than 5kΩ Greater than 5kΩ Less than 5Ω
Measure the resistance between the contact points. Refer to the list of contact points in the table above. Note the resistance values. Expected Result:The measurements agree with the values that are listed in Table 1.Results:
YES. - The resistances that were measured agree with the expected measurements that are listed in the table. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO. - The resistance measurements do not reflect the expected measurements that are listed in the table. The switch has failed.Repair: Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR A SHORTED HARNESS.
The "LH Offset Switch" remains disconnected.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the harness connector (J2) from the ECM.
At the harness connector for the ECM (J2), measure the resistance between contact J2-58 (wire Y933-YL(Yellow)) and ALL other J2 connector contacts.
At the harness connector for the ECM (J2), measure the resistance between contact J2-55 (wire Y934-WH(White)) and ALL other J2 connector contacts.
At the harness connector for the ECM (J2), measure the resistance between contact J2-54 (wire Y936-PK(Pink)) and ALL other J2 connector contacts.
At the harness connector for the ECM (J2), measure the resistance between contact J2-22 (wire H745-BK(Black)) and ALL other J2 connector contacts. Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5kΩ.Results:
YES. - The resistance is greater than 5kΩ. The harness resistance is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO. - Resistance is less than 5kΩ. Repair: The harness has failed. Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK FOR AN OPEN HARNESS.
The "LH Offset Switch" remains disconnected from the harness.
The key start switch and the disconnect switch are in the OFF position.
At the harness connector for the "LH Offset Switch", place a jumper wire between the following contacts:
Contact 1 (wire Y934-WH(White)) and Contact 2 (wire H745-BR(Brown))
Contact 4 (wire Y936-PK(Pink)) and contact 6 (wire Y933-YL(Yellow))
The J2 connectors remain disconnected from the ECM.
At the harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between connection J2-58 (wire Y933-YL(Yellow)) and connection J2-22 (wire H745-BR(Brown)). Make a note of the resistance that was measured.
At the harness connector for the ECM, measure the resistance between
