Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install coupling hub (24) onto the spline of the piston pump until there is contact with the inner retaining ring.
Insert Pre-Loctited 252-9197 Bolt (23) and tighten to a torque of 102 5 N m (75.2 3.6 lb ft).Note: Apply Tooling (B) to bolt (23) if Loctite is not applied.

Install tube (22) .

Install nylon flange (21) .
Install eight bolts (20) . Tighten the bolts.

Install adapter plate (19) .
Install clip (18) , washers, and bolts (17) to the adapter plate.

Note: The coupling hub must slide into the nylon flange for proper installation.
Attach a suitable lifting device to the piston pump. Weight of the piston pump is 59 kg (130 lb). Slide the piston pump toward the rear of the machine for installation.

Use Tooling (A) to install the washers and bolts (16) and (15) . Tighten the bolts to a torque of 136 N m (100 lb ft).

Connect hoses (9) , (10) , (11) , (12) , (13) , and (14) to the left side of the piston pump.

Connect hoses (1) , (2) , (3) , (4) , (5) , (6) , (7) , and (8) to the right side of the piston pump., , , , End By:
Install the gear pump only for the 236 and 246 Skid Steer Loaders. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2877, "Gear Pump - Install".
Install the piston pump only for the 248 Skid Steer Loader. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2891, "Piston Pump - Install".
Install the hydraulic tank. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2877, "Hydraulic Tank - Install".
Install the cab. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2877, "Cab - Install".
