Do not disconnect the air lines until the air pressure in the system is at zero. If hose is disconnected under pressure it can cause personal injury.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the air pressure from the air tank and drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
Remove the belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".

Disconnect hose assembly (1) and hose assembly (2) from air compressor (4).
Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose assembly (12) from air compressor (4).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to air compressor (4). The weight of air compressor (4) and bracket assembly (9) is approximately 40 kg (88 lb).
Remove bolts (8), bolts (10), and bolts (14). Remove air compressor (4) and bracket assembly (9).
The weight of air compressor (4) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb). Remove bolts (11) and bolts (13) in order to remove air compressor (4) from bracket assembly (9). Remove the gasket from air compressor (4) and the sump.
Remove cotter pin (6). Remove nut (7) and pulley (5) from air compressor (4). Installation Procedure
