Installation of 3E3778 Ether Control Group
The 3E3778 Control Group is required for the MPPS System.Check the electronic control box installed with the AEIS to see if it is a 3E3778 or a 9X5303 Control Group. If a 9X5303 control Group is installed, replace it with 3E3778 Control Group and 3E3779 Film.Follow the "Installation of 9X5303 Ether Control Group" instructions outlined in the AEIS installation Special Instruction, SEHS9293. Be sure to install the 8X8398 Wire Assembly between the control and mounting plate. If an MPPS identification film is needed for a language other than English, refer to the following chart for the part number of the film for a specific language. Installation of 3E3530 Electronic Control Group [(PWM) Oil Pressure Sensor]
1. Remove the 6T7663 Oil Pressure Switch and adapter from the turbo oil adapter on the right rear of the engine (switch on bottom port with 405-GY attached to it).2. Install a 3E5276 Adapter (1) in the port using a 3J7354 Seal and a 6V4589 O-ring Seal.3. Install 3E3530 Electronic Control Group (2) [PWM Oil Pressure Sensor] onto 3E5276 Adapter.4. Place a 6V1874 Grommet over the tubular portion of the 3E3530 Electronic Control Group (2).5. Using a 5P7468 Clip (4) and 5P7469 Clip (5), install the 3E3530 Electronic Control Group to the flywheel housing as shown with a 4L9337 Bolt (6) and 5P1075 Washer.6. Install a 9X3495 Clip Assembly (7) to the flywheel housing, as shown, using an available bolt.Installation of Wiring Harnesses
The rear cab harness will be replaced, and a retrofit harness will be added to the chassis harness.Installation of 8X8716 Ether (Control) Wiring Harness
1. Disconnect the existing 8X5017 Harness Assembly from the control box, the dash harness, the cab wall connector and the ground lug.2. Install a new 8X8716 Harness Assembly. Use the existing 8N1523 Lockwasher and clips from the old harness to reconnect to the harnesses, cab wall, ground lug and control box.3. Cut the 6A3359 Wire to approximately 5 dm. (19.7 in). Strip one end and attach a 7N7779 Socket.Insert the socket into location #1 of the 7N9738 Housing.Insert 9G3695 Plug into location #2 of the 7N9738 Housing. 4. Locate wire 405-GY on the main cab harness near the connector exiting the cab wall on the right hand side, as shown by arrow.Cut this wire close to the connector. Splice it and the wire just assembled using an 8S4626 Splice. Be sure to splice to the portion of the wire that goes into the cab harness.5. Connect the 7N9738 Housing to the two pin connector on the 8X9862 Harness Assembly (housing containing 405-GY). Clip with a 3T3048 Clip Assembly.Installation of 8X9861 Retrofit Oil Pressure Sensor Wiring Harness
The oil pressure sensor connects to the ether engine wiring harness on a production system. For this retrofit, a special harness is used to add the connection to the oil pressure sensor to avoid the replacement of the whole ether chassis harness.
