Before starting work on the machine, choose a suitable area to perform the task described below. Disconnect the linkage rods from the spool tang on the spool that is to be replaced.

Once the linkage has been dis-connected remove the spool plates and rubber boot. These parts can be replaced with the new parts from the kit. The upper spool seal that will need to be replaced after the replacement spool has been inserted. Be aware of the seal orientation when changing.
Remove the screws and spool cap on the valve slice that requires the spool change. The spool spring pack will be exposed. Withdraw the spool in question by pulling in a downward direction to extract. Make sure that the lower spool seal comes away with the spool. This action will insure that two seals cannot be wrongly applied giving incorrect operation to the function of the spool in question.Note: There will be a loss of oil as the spool is withdrawn from the valve body.
