Schematic Of The Rotor Depth Position SensorThis diagnostic code (fault) is recorded when the ECM reads the sensor signal as below normal or shorted to ground. The results of this diagnostic code are:
A category 2 warning is showing on the Computerized Monitoring System.
A diagnostic code on the rotor depth position sensor will only allow manual control of the rotor depth.
Work and travel operation is not allowed. The possible causes for this diagnostic code are:
+Battery circuit (119-PK) from the electrical system to the sensor is open.
Signal circuit (B841-GY) is shorted to ground.
Sensor is faulty.
ECM is faulty (unlikely).Service Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 034 FMI F01 is on-hold and that the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator is on. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes (faults). When the procedure is completed, clear the created diagnostic codes.
Check Sensor.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Access Service Mode. Place the diagnostic code (CID 034 FMI F01) on-hold. Ensure that the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator is on.
While observing the status of the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator, disconnect the machine harness from the sensor. Expected Result: The diagnostic code indicator remains ON.Results:
YES - The sensor is not faulty. The machine harness or the ECM may be faulty. Proceed to next step.
NO - The machine harness and the ECM are operating properly. The sensor is faulty. Replace the sensor. STOP.
Check Signal Circuit For Short To Ground.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance between pin 28 (B841-GY) and frame ground. Expected Result: The resistance is greater than 5000 ohmsResults:
YES - The signal circuit is correct. Proceed to next step.
NO - There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between pin 28 (B841-GY) and a ground source. The possible ground sources are: 840-GN and frame ground. Repair or replace the machine harness. STOP.
Check If Diagnostic Code Remains.
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connections.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode of the ECM and clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check to see if CID 034 FMI F01 diagnostic code is present. Expected Result: The CID 034 FMI F01 diagnostic code present.Results:
YES - The diagnostic code has not been corrected. It is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Perform the previous Steps again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing And Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.
NO - Diagnostic code is NOT present; the diagnostic code does not exist at this time. The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connectors that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation. STOP.
