Information:

Propel Control Lever Replacement and Adjustment
Park the machine on a flat, level surface.
Apply the parking brake.
Place the keyswitch in the OFF position.
Locate the propel lever on the operator station.

(A) Bolt (B) Console Cover
Remove Bolts (A) and Console Cover (B) in order to access the tensioner for the control lever.
Remove the vibratory on/off switch cover boot from the top of the handle and discard.

Remove Grip (C) from the lever.

Locations (1) and (2) on the four pin connector
Remove the wires from Locations (1) and (2) from the four pin connector.
Remove the securing tape from the loomed sleeve.
Remove the switch by pulling the wires through the loomed sleeve and through lever shaft and retain for reinstallation.
Cut the heat shrink tubing at the top of the main lever boot where the heat shrink tubing transitions from the boot to the tube. Do not cut the boot.

Disconnect the control cable from the lever by removing Retaining Clip (X) and Washer (Y) from Swivel (Z) .

(G) Number of exposed threads (H) Auto-vibe Switch (J) Lock Nut (K) Set Screw
Measure height (G) of Set Screw (K) tip from the lever plate. The Set Screw (K) activates Auto-vibe Switch (H). This dimension will aid in setting the position of the set screw during reassembly with the new lever. Refer to Illustration 5.
Remove and retain Lock Nut (J) and Set Screw (K). Refer to Illustration 5.
Loosen and remove Jam Nut (E) and Locknut (F).
Remove the spring washers and thrust bearing and keep clean.
Remove the lever and discard.
Apply Loctite 263 or 270 (5) to the set screw and nut. Install such that the Set Screw height (G) is the same as recorded in Step 13.
Install the new Lever (1) .

Install the thrust bearing and springs washers. Install the first two spring washers with the dished side facing the nut end. Assemble the second two spring washers such that the dished side face away from the nut end. The inner two spring washers will be opposing each other. Refer to Illustration 6.
Install Locknut (F) .
Position the lever in the neutral position.
Slide 125-7876 Heat Shrink Tube (3) over the top of the lever and seal the boot to the lever. The boot should be in the neutral state, not pulled up tight nor pushed down.
Reassemble the switch to the lever by sliding the wires through the shaft.
Reinstall the terminals into positions 1 and 2 on the four pin connector.
Install the switch and new 456-8342 Handle Control Gp to the lever.
Tighten the grip screws to 1.4 N m (12 lb in) using a T15 Torx bit.
Apply a continuous line of the Loctite 380 or Loctite 435 (4) around the groove in the grip and install the cap over the switch.
Secure the ends of the loomed covering to the wires using electrical tape.
