Troubleshooting Procedure
Determine if the source of the problem is in the ADEM or in the engine and hydraulic pump control.
Make sure that the wiring harness connectors are securely inserted. Make sure that the pins in the connectors are not damaged. A failure in the wiring harness and the connector is identified by diagnostic codes. The procedure for troubleshooting by diagnostic codes is described in another section of this article.Indicator Light On The Panel Display
Certain conditions may activate an indicator light on the electronic monitor panel. An activated indicator light alerts the operator of a detected problem.

A defect is in the ADEM when indicator light (A) is activated. Refer to the Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting manual in order to troubleshoot the ADEM.
The diagnostic code that is displayed on the monitor in the service mode describes the fault. Refer to the Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting manual for troubleshooting by the diagnostic code.
The failure may be caused by a communication error between the ADEM and the hydraulic pump control. Refer to the Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting manual for troubleshooting a communication problem between the pump controller and the engine controller.Engine Speed
In some situations, the engine speed will not increase when the engine speed dial is turned. In some situations, the engine speed will not decrease when the engine speed dial is turned.
Check the throttle signal from the engine and hydraulic pump control. If the throttle signal is normal, troubleshoot the ADEM. If the throttle signal is abnormal, calibrate the governor.Note: A defect in the wiring harness may be the cause of an abnormal throttle signal. Refer to the Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting manual for the troubleshooting procedure to check the signal for the engine speed.
